Turkey has a rich cultural legacy shaped by centuries of history and the influence of the various peoples that have inhabited its territory over several millennia; it is home to 19 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is among the most visited countries in the world.

The Republic of Türkiye has a very diverse culture that is a blend of various elements of the Eastern Mediterranean, Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia and Middle East traditions. Türkiye has hosted many civilizations and has many ethnic origins on its lands. It is seen that different cultural elements, traditions, beliefs, languages or dialects of that region live in each city of Türkiye. There are main elements that make up Turkish culture. These can be specified as language, religion, tradition, art, sport, worldview and history.

Tourism in Turkey has increased almost every year in the 21st century, and is an important part of the economy. Currency

The lira, along with the related currencies of Europe and the Middle East, has its roots in the ancient Roman unit of weight known as the libra which referred to the Troy pound of silver. The Roman libra adoption of the currency spread it throughout Europe and the Near East, where it continued to be used into medieval times. The Turkish lira, the French livre (until 1794), the Italian lira (until 2002), Syrian pound, Lebanese pound and the pound unit of account in sterling (a translation of the Latin libra; the word "pound" as a unit of weight is still abbreviated as "lb.") are the modern descendants of the ancient currency.

Currently there are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 lira banknotes and 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 kurus coins (100 kurus make up one lira) and 1 lira coins.
